Why do people think that a man wearing high heels is gay or wants to be a woman?

This question is ONLY dealing with men wearing ONLY high heel shoes. Not transvestism or transexualism. ONLY the shoes with 'masculine' clothing otherwise...So why do so many people think that a man who wears heels is any less of a man? Or gay? Or wants to be a woman? Or wants to appear as a woman? Why can't a man simply want to wear heels and go through life that way? So why do YOU think a man must be gay, wants to be seen as or treated as a woman or maybe even become a woman if he's wearing high heels? Please help me understand the correlation between a pair of shoes and someone's sexual orientation. Again, I'm not asking about if the person is dressing completely as a woman. That's a different story. But in men's clothes wearing high heels, what's the big deal?

Why do people think that a man wearing high heels is gay or wants to be a woman?
I think that these people are trying to explain it to themselves without asking the guy and sounding like an idiot... or they just don't have anything better to think about in their free time. whatever either way, no reason to be judgemental.
Reply:Actually the reason why high heels even exist is because it is difficult to walk in and causes the woman to sway in a way that is considered sexy, very similar to the way that the Chinese bound the feet of rich women. Men who wear the heels would end up walking in the same way, minus the hourglass shaped curves. Therefore most people would identify men wearing heels as looking "gay".

Personally, I would love it if guys would wear heels. Make them understand how much women have to go through to look good.
Reply:This has to go down as one of the greatest questions ever asked on Yahoo answers. This should garner many serious answers. Many! In fact, I'll bite off my own tongue if you receive any smarty pants answers at all!
Reply:Well, let's say that same man wasn't wearing the high heel shoes but he was wearing a skirt (and I don't mean a kilt).. he was wearing this along with all the other things men wear (a suit jacket, men's shoes etc.). He's ONLY wearing the skirt with all other masculine clothing. What do you think now? And what's the difference?
Reply:because its gay
Reply:it's just that style doesn't work on a man. it just doesn't. it's so feminine and that doesn't work on a guy. i live in vegas and there is a country bar here caled gilley's and i see guys in cowboy boots that pretty much have a 4 inch heel on them. but it's a really thick, strong heel so it works.
Reply:good question.

It would be the same as asking whats wrong with a female fighting on the first line in a war. or whats wrong with women wearing work boots without being called a dike. i think it has alot to do with stereotypes. a majority of people have an image of what they think males should look like and what females should look like. thankfully times are changing slowly and there is alot more acceptance of people that break these "stereotypes". to be specific with high heals though you might want to look into why they were invented for women in the first place. and why it might seem strange for some people to see a heterosexual, masculine male wearing them. stereotypes have been implanted into our brains for generations. its not as simple as flicking a switch and making people think differently.

Rome wasn't built in a day. there is light though, and i hope for a future that allows people to be who they are with out being judged in a negative way by others.
Reply:There is no deal i have one name for you: PRINCE! He's been wearing 6 inch heels with male attire since before I was born. And there is no way in the world that man is gay. Insecure about his height, maybe but not gay. I love him! I think he's awesome. Wear what you want!
Reply:BECAUSE ITS NOT NORMAL!!!!
Reply:because women wear high heels
Reply:I think its perfectly normal!!!!
Reply:sorry, the shoes look better on women-after all, that's who they were made for.

plus, it's just plain creepy if there's nothing "trans" about you. it's creepy enough for me running in to someone who is (I don 't mean to be ruse or anything, but that's just who I am)
Reply:cuz it is gay
Reply:Society needs to rethink its gender definition. There are too many people crossing the gap, which is making the standard of social gender inaccurate if not incorrect in its description of men and women. Are the organs for reproduction the factors that classify our gender or is gender a product of one's personality traits and talents?

As a male toddler, I desired to wear the patent leather mary janes. I didn't know I had to be a certain type of gender. I didn't even know there was such a word then. All I knew was, those shoes were the ones I want to wear. Of course, I was told no, but that didn't stop my desire. Later, I found a chance to have a pair of my own and I latched on to them so firmly, only death could take them away. Activities and time wore them out and that ended the wearing, but not my desire to continue to have and wear feminine footwear like them.

To shorten the story, let me say, as a heterosexual, I have never lost that desire, even though I have since learned of the societal standard for "crossdressing" as it has been labeled. To me, it is still a natural feeling to wear the footwear that fits my fancy.

I have grown up in a world that looks down on male femininity, and I have learned to keep my activities in wearing high heels fairly secretive. Exhibiton and glory are not the results I want to follow my daily activities. However, living under a societal deception that tells us all males are masculine and all females are feminine is a standard to be revised. Women have enjoyed their jump back and forth across this man-made gender gap. Today's socially defined masculinity is accepted and idealized by the world, in general. The men who have the needs and desires of the present feminine stereotype are demoted and reviled to a sub-standard status, when all they wanted is to be who they are: a person with the abilities and achievements equal to any other person's possibilities, if given the chance. I really don't understand why femininity should be given less of a value status in this intellectually enriched stage of the human race. As it has been said before, we should not be so quick to judge another person until we walk in their shoes, even if they're high heels.
Reply:no offense or anything. i just think its really weird. im not telling u not to wear them, i mean its ur choice. but people might start talkin bout u. but hey...its ur choice
Reply:Because society says it's wrong. Oh wait, that's the typical stupid American response - just do what everyone else says and never have an original thought or opinion. Honestly, I would love to be able to wear heels out in public, not necessarily every day but once in a while, for an entire day as I do errands and stuff.
Reply:Those shoes are design for women not men.
Reply:Hmmm. This kind of sounds similar to a question I asked, except mine was about men wearing pantyhose and tights because I like to wear them. I usually wear tights, but sometimes I wear pantyhose. NO IT DOES NOT MAKE A MAN GAY AT ALL. An article of clothing does not determine a man's sexuality one iota. We're living in a society where people just can't accept others for who they are. Racism is running rampant as it labeling people. They don't even know you and will never meet you. I say this. Wear high heels all you want. It doesn't make you any less of a man. Don't let these people who call you gay get to you. It doesn't mean a thing.

Ladies Only, Do you prefer High Heels, Low Heels or No heels on your shoes?

I've been into casual tennis shoes and low heels at Church. I'm trying to take care of my feet. My grandmas feet are jacked up! I do not want to end up with bunyuns and corns. What kind of shoes do you prefer?

Trendy "Kitten Heels" for Petite?

I've heard the term Kitten Heels before and am interested, probably the first time in buying shoes :-) . I would like to see some examples of good (but small) heels - all the small-heeled shoes I'm finding really just remind me of the 80's :-|

I need something that's easy to walk in for beginners (ex: Aldo's for stilhettoes). I'm really drawn towards the wedges, they look really nice, but I want something a bit sexier I can wear and show off during the day.

Thanks everyone - I'm fashion impaired.

all sorts of places carry these now, and they come in all styles and sizes. just go have a look around in stores. target, walmart, aldo, steve madden, whatever your budget can accomidate. go check all sorts of stores, shoe shopping really isnt something you should do online. if you go shopping in a store, you can take the time to try them on and walk around in them for a bit to see if they are comfortable, and how well they really look on you. ive seen some shoes i thought were hidious, then i put them on and they just sort of worked....its hard to explain. but then there are some shoes you see and say "oh, those are cute" but then you put them on and see them in a mirror and cant think of a single thing you would wear them with. just go browse around. it really is a hands on type of thing.
Reply:Try something like this:

Hope you find what you're looking for!
Reply:Have a look on ebay. Select your size and select 1-3 inch heels, then just tap kitten into the refined search bar. I'm like you, I love the look of wedges but for myself I think the kitten is a bit more femenine and sexy, plus very comfy. Only problem is they cost a fortune in re-heeling. Worth the extra though and there are usually millions of them on ebay which should at least give you some ideas.
Reply:I just came across a BEAUTIFUL pair of kitten heels at the (believe it or not) Wal-Mart website.

High Heels are beneficial for women?

High-heeled shoes not only tone the legs and strengthen the pelvic muscles, but they directly work the pleasure muscles which are linked to an orgasm. The heels influence and work the pelvic muscles and reduce the need to exercise them. We now hope to prove that wearing heels during daily activity may reduce the need for the pelvic exercises necessary to keep a woman's anatomy toned and elastic. This suggests the muscles are more relaxed with higher heels, increasing their strength and ability to contract. Women often have difficulty in carrying out the right exercises for the pelvic zone and wearing heels could prove to be the solution. What do you think, Ladies?

Thanks for that mate, next time I get a lecture from my mum for wearing heels (because it damages your feet) I'll tell her what you said
Reply:The only reason I have ever put on a pair of heels is because I'm only 5'2". I'm short! Haven't worn a pair since August, because I shattered my foot wearing heels. I can't wait to wear them again (and be extra careful this time). If they really do have all of those health benefits, that's awesome!
Reply:no they arent beneficial. we wear them to look taller and sexier and make our legs look longer. not for the health benefits.

where on earth are you getting this info?

i happen to know that the effects are just the opposite. they damage your back and feet. and there are so many accidents where women trip and fall or twist their ankle b/c they have trouble walking in them.

if heels really toned you up, then my BBW best friend would be skinny by now b/c she loves heels...

maybe you just have a high heel fetish. what you think?
Reply:Interesting.......but what good is all of this if they can also lead to feet deformities???
Reply:I too find this interesting.
Reply:Maybe you should start wearing heels then mate.

High Heels Flop On My Feet Need Suggestions?

Every pair of heels that I own always flop or come off of my heel when I walk. It seems to me that I have high arched feet and that the pumps are too low on the heel for them to stay on. The sizing is correct but they all do this I have even tried going down a size and it still happens. So are there any high heel shoes that have a deeper heel area where they won't flop when I walk?

High Heels Flop On My Feet Need Suggestions?
You can get - and I'm totally not kidding about this - a pad that will cling to your foot to place in your shoe. You also might explore strappy shoes
Reply:Try a shoe with a strap, like a mary-jane style.
Reply:They have these insert w/ adhesive on one side that you can put in certain position in your shoes to keep you from sliding or flopping.. Ive seen them almost everywhere, couple times in Avon, Im sure a grocery store... they have them for you heels and for under your toes...
Reply:Had the same problem.so i started buying heels that had a strap around the ankle.then after i got used to them i bought heels that didnt have straps.get one to fit your foot perfectly, not too small and not too big.you need to find the exact size for your foot, if i do have a pair of heels that tend to "flop" around like a crazy fish out of water i just drag my heels while im walking.its what all my friends do and if that doesnt work - stuff tissue down near the toe!!
Reply:They make pad things you can put in the heel. Like a foot pad but, they go in the upper heel part. I live in high heels and I use them in every pair I own. They are pretty cheap and just help to make the shoe a little more snug. So no more flopping!

Wearing heels and protecting the ankle?

I'm a high heeled shoes virgin - I'm used to trainers or ridiculously high heeled boots. My problem is that because one foot is a size bigger than the other, one foot invariably gets rubbed by the shoe until my heel/ankle is cut up and killing me. What products are available for that? Do they make things that you can stick on for protection? I'd wear tights/socks but that's not an option in the middle of summer!

Do excuse my naivety.

Wearing heels and protecting the ankle?
Go to your local phamacy- Dr.Scholls has tons of products- they have a spray that makes your foot rub less, so no blisters, they have cushion pads (like bandaids with extra stuff) that have gel that protect areas that are prone to blisters etc. Check it out! Also when you go out take some stuff with you in case your feet get sore and you can save your feet for the night- I love heels! Trust me I know! You can also buy heel grips and inserts so that if you bought the size that fit your biggest foot you can make the other one fit too- that could cause you less pain?
Reply:hey, i know just how you feel i had the same problem.

i found these special little squidgy pads that can stick to your feet anywhere you like, they are found at a supermarket or chemist, they cost around 15 dollars, and they can be washed and re-used!!! what a bargain. i hope i have helped!!
Reply:Try Heavenly Heelz by Foot Petals. You stick 'em on the back of your heels, right where the shoe would normally cut into the backs of your ankles. Works wonders ;)

Ladies, decide: high heels or flat shoes?

As the self proclaimed dictator of Ayrania, I have decided to ban one of the above. So I am holding a referendum: flat shoes or high heels? Make your ultimate decision.

Ladies, decide: high heels or flat shoes?
Hmmmm this is a hard one to answer...I Love both, but if it comes down to the ultimate decision...I just have to go with my HEELS..
Reply:high heels
Reply:ban heels... can you imagine a world without flats?? *shudders*
Reply:flat shoes girl because im tall... hehehe.. i cant wear heels , flat is also comfortable....
Reply:I use both depending on the occasion. But of course for everyday use, I prefer flats. So, if one's to be banned, it's high heels.
Reply:ban flat shoes

long live Ayrania :P
Reply:High heels please your Majesty.
Reply:High heels of course!!

Excuse me your majesty but I am short as it is..I need my high heels :D
Reply:Excuse me, why don't you ask us men what we think about it too? I think we too should have a say as to which one looks good on ladies.

I personally prefer thin high heels (stiletto). They look so feminine.

p.s. who reported me for welcoming Irmak? what was wrong with that question?
Reply:flat shoes...

(when i see i woman with high heels, she looks weird to me when trying to walk with them.. knees lose its shape.. and also i heard its not healty to wear daily)
Reply:Flat shoes.

Reply:High heels till death!
Reply:Flat shoes - so much more comfortable and you can actually run with them without being worried plus you don't look ridiculous when you can't walk in those high heels!

Reply:Flats. I can't walk EVERY SINGLE DAY wearing high heels. They're great for special occasions and when you want to be all dressed up, but not to wear casually.
Reply:High heels.
