How do shoe websites measure the heel of the shoe?

when looking online for shoes, they website usually gives the approximate heel size in inches (3 1/2, 2 3/4, etc.), but when i receive the shoe, the heel is always higher. i measure the heel from the tallest point to the bottom of the heel, and if it was said the heel is 3 inches, i measure it to be 4, from the tallest point. so i%26#039;m wondering, how do they measure heels, and shouldn%26#039;t they be measure from the tallest point??

How do shoe websites measure the heel of the shoe?
Hi,

There is no definitive industry standard for measuring heel height in shoes, but as a shoe aficionado I can say that most stores and online catalogues measure heel height on the underside of the shoe, from the bottom of the heel to the sole of the shoe.
Reply:sure
Reply:Most measure it from the tip to where it meets the bottom of the shoe.
